    We are hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher in Applied Fisheries or Environmental Economic Modeling to develop tools for applying fisheries and economic modeling in areas beyond national jurisdiction (ABNJ), particularly with relevance to large-scale Marine Protected Area (MPA) designation in ABNJ.

    We are seeking a project intern to support research on Spotting Giant Sea Bass, a project that uses community science and Artificial Intelligence to track endangered Giant Sea Bass off the Southern California and Baja California coasts. The intern will work independently, with supervision by Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory research staff, to manage core data workflows, lead community outreach efforts, and serve as a primary point of contact for the project’s network of community scientists and stakeholders. This internship is ideal for a UCSB undergraduate student looking to pursue a career in marine science, ecology, data science, wildlife conservation, and/or science communication.
