Urban pollution in the Bay of Bengal
Posted by Atreyi Bhattacharyya | Kolkata, India
Pollution in waterways in West Bengal continues to be a huge problem as the region rapidly urbanizes. Unfortunately most of this pollution ends up flushing in the Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean. I’m concerned that many coastal habitats in this region could be threatened by general trash, plastics, pesticides, sewage, etc. Some of this habitat is important (e.g. Sundarban National Park UNESCO World Heritage site) for biodiversity or has implications for human health. Can you do something to help with this?
