Right whale

Maine Marine Resources has struggled to adapt regulations which protect Right Whales, targeting inshore commercial fisheries. With little or no regard to ship traffic.
I like what your doing on the west coast, it seems a more logical, proactive approach in which we could adapt here in the Gulf of Maine.
Where would one start in order to secure a grant to research and implement the technology, ideal placement and monitoring which would potentially aleart ship trafic as well as commercial operations?
Andy, please visit our website and look closely at the new technology we have developed, engineered and built and are using – as well as the programs we are now running on a limited basis as well as the over all anti ship strikes – whale protection program, whale data buoys and Worldwide Whale Reporting Center and network that also includes life threatening plastic ocean pollution. There is nothing like it anywhere that we can find anyway.
Go to http://www.whaleresearchinstitute.org It’s not a super duper fancy site, but it’s part of what we can do, trying to do, everything with nothing. We see no support either.
There are a lot of well funded groups with a lot of ideas (we think bad ones) and they all have a lot of money and they all have “a lot meetings” But it seems none of them actually ever “do” anything. And it seems they all cling to and use old technology. We’ve tried to contact so many of them in an attempt to tell them what we have done but have basically given up. They are always “busy”, “in a class”, “in a meeting”, “away from their desk”, “not in today”, or it’s a recording and we never get a reply. BUT, they have their picture on their web site and list what school they went to and they all probably know whats on TV tonight . . . . . . . . . .
As for Funding ? Good luck. It seems funds are only available to those that already have a lot of funding. Does this show that those truly interested in funding solutions to solving problems are searching out the capable ? The system designed, engineered and deployed part time by The Whale Research Institute will do exactly what you seek to do with helping to protect Right Whales and any others as well. And there are other components designed and engineered by The Whale Research Institute that work on ships as an “Alert System” Unfortunately, NOT CHEAP to build and deploy. And authoring a grant Proposal is not walk in the park. Regardless of how informative and accurate and “worthy” it all is, someone will always critisize it to death. It’s like you can please “no one” There’s more our systems and network engineering than on our site. Check out the site and communicate directly through Whale Mail if you like and we’ll send you even more stuff that is not released on the site (yet) I just stopped by this site to to see who is thinking of what and what else is “not being done” It’s a long list . . . . . . .
