Disappearance of sand

I am currently a masters student at UCSB in the masters of environmental data science program. We have the opportunity to write a project proposal with a client such as yourselves! I am writing to see if you would like to work together (this is like a half-year of free work from a part-time scientist employee) to solve an environmental problem together. I am open to any ideas that your organization is currently working on, or help think of something new. One idea that I have been exploring recently, as an avid surfer, is examining how humans are effecting longshore sediment transport. The lack of sand at beaches is negatively affecting both surf breaks and ecosystems... as well as accelerating coastal erosion and therefore sea level rise - related problems. My goal is to use my newly developing data science skills to build a product for a client like you that helps solve or study an ocean-related issue.
