Managing Plastic Pollution

The Philippines is ranked #3 in the world for plastic pollution. When walking along streets, beaches, and rivers, single use plastic items are a glaring reminder of this statistic. Clearly, these plastic items are detrimental to terrestrial, freshwater, and marine systems. But the problem begins and will end above water. How can we rebuild a system of social change that will not only remove current plastics, but build capacity in a community to alter habits that sustain a trash free environment?
