By saving the whales can we reduce Climate change?

Whales like any animal are made out of carbon, and are so big they each store a lot of carbon. When whales poop, or die naturally, they usually sink to the bottom of the ocean, carrying their carbon with them and so it is not released into the atmosphere to influence Climate Change. However when whales are killed for whaling or accidently in fishing nets carbon is released adding to global pollution and climate change. So in nature when whales poop or die naturally it is comparable to the amount of carbon involved in forest-management schemes being proposed for buying and selling carbon credits. Can scientists working with the World Cetacean Alliance achieve this ambition to save the whales around the world?
