3D Printed affordable housing using recycled plastic mixed with concrete as Eco-Concrete

Posted by Marieh M | California, United States

Today's world is facing both a housing and waste crisis. Currently, over 1 billion people are living without proper shelter which will be doubled by 2050 and over 359 million tons of plastic is being produced yearly which will be tripled by 2050. (World Economic Forum, 2016 & 2019)

One of the main reasons for the housing crisis is that the current construction technology is wasteful, labor intensive, inefficient and thus expensive and environmentally unfriendly. Moreover, our oceans and landfills are being filled with more and more plastics everyday which are not being recycled, affecting climate change.

We create eco-concrete and then offer our architectural design templates to customers and connect them with the right construction 3D printing companies.

Eco-concrete is a proprietary compound we develop out of recycled plastic + concrete
MAA’VA eco-concrete I :
- recycled plastic replacing sand
- recycled plastic replacing aggregate
MAA’VA eco-concrete II :
-recycled polypropylene fibers replacing rebars to strengthen the concrete
